Students at Ravensbourne will not only gain access to extracurricular learning through online masterclasses and industry events but also the opportunity to work with DaVinci Resolve, a post production tool recognized and used by professionals worldwide.”
Colour grading is one of the core aspects of post-production work. It is a process by which the colour tones and brightness of images taken from a range of camera shots – not necessarily taken at the same time or in the same conditions – are modified, for example, making them look identical in terms of light level so as to comprise a single scene chronologically and in terms of location. This is useful when shooting of a scene has taken place both in bright sunlight and heavy overcast.
It is also where colour effects are added – for example washed out primary colours to produce a down-key tone, or picking out reds in a scene to suggest passion. Basic grading is part of the post-production process for all film and television and is a key tool for feature film and high-end TV drama.
