Ravensbourne University London and Hiut Denim Company held an exclusive sustainability event at London's Truman Brewery on Thursday 23 January 2025.

The event, Denim Innovation, allowed leading brands, industry professionals, and Ravensbourne students alike to showcase the latest developments in sustainable denim production and eco-conscious fashion.

Kirtana Rajeev - Portrait of Britain Award

February 2026

Ravensbourne is celebrating the achievements of Kirtana Rajeev, Technical Tutor for Photography, whose work has been selected for the prestigious Portrait of Britain Award, Volume 8, by the British Journal of Photography.

Her winning portrait has since travelled far beyond the gallery walls, appearing in major publications including Malayala Manorama, Kerala Kaumadi, Mathrubhumi, Deshabhimani, The Guardian, and Aesthetica Magazine.

A careers fair during LaunchPad.

LaunchPad Careers Fair

LaunchPad is a weeklong careers initiative run by Ravensbourne University London, designed to provide final-year and postgraduate students with a vital platform for learning, networking and upskilling.

Aimed at bridging the gap between academic study and entering the workforce in a creative, technological or business discipline, LaunchPad involved a variety of inspiring guest talks, illuminating panel discussions and practical workshops.

Sessions from the University’s target sectors included a careers Q&A with Samantha Hornsby, co-founder of ERIC, a personal branding workshop delivered by Alicia Richardson, founder of Create Connect, and a start-up masterclass from the Rebel Business School.

Ravensbourne students win at New Blood awards

July 2024

Two sets of Ravensbourne BA (Hons) Advertising and Brand Design students won industry-renowned 'pencils' at the 2024 D&AD New Blood Awards.

The D&AD New Blood Awards is a global competition that recognises creative excellence in design and advertising. It attracts over 6,000 entries each year.

An example of the work done as part of the Uncommon project

Uncommon Project

April 2025

Between March and April, students from Ravensbourne University London took part in an immersive four-week residency at Uncommon Creative Studios. This collaboration offered students a groundbreaking opportunity to learn from one of the UK’s most innovative creative agencies.

Students were tasked with designing a compelling interpretation of a threatened aspect of British cultural identity. The responses to this brief spanned a range of facets connected to contemporary British culture.

Some projects sought to shine a light on niche subject areas, such as a celebration of the ‘bossmen’ as keystones of the British high street and an imaginative solution to laws restricting clubbing in the UK.

Ravensbourne University London student wins Kopparberg glass design competition

January 2026

A Ravensbourne student has designed a new branded pint glass for Kopparberg, which has been distributed to pubs and bars across the UK and beyond.

More than 50 students took part in the project, which marks the latest chapter in Ravensbourne’s annual collaboration with the international drinks brand. The winner, Becky Smith (BA Graphic Design), will receive £9,500 to cover one year of course fees, while two runners-up, Euan Coveney (BA Advertising and Brand Design) and Helin Yurtseven (BA Product Design), each received £500 prizes.

Ravensbourne University London x Tate Kids

May 2025

Ravensbourne’s first-year Animation students had the opportunity to respond to a live brief for Tate Kids, an educational resource for the arts intended for audiences between the ages of four and 12.

The students were tasked with creating a short animation detailing the life of trailblazing and influential artist and fashion designer, Leigh Bowery. As a culmination of the project, the animations were then screened at the Tate Modern’s Starr Cinema, providing an opportunity for the students to reflect on their achievements and have their work showcased on the big screen.

Anna Eerdmans

April 2025

Anna Eerdmans - Product Design student at Ravensbourne - won a 2024 PORADA International Award in the Students category and got to collect the award in Milan.

This marked a culmination of her journey from pencil drawings for contractors to sustainable modular product design.

The King with students

Ravensbourne University London students meet King Charles

February 2026

Ravensbourne University London Film and Media students enjoyed an extraordinary opportunity as they met King Charles during his visit to Eastbrook Studios, one of London’s fastest-growing film and TV production hubs. 

Twenty students in total – including six from Ravensbourne – took part in the 30-minute visit, which celebrated the growing partnership between education and the film and television industries. The students have been working with Eastbrook Studios for the past year on various projects and were invited back after previously producing a film on site.
