Students excel at the Ravensbourne Degree Show

Publication date:

The Ravensbourne Degree Show is an annual event celebrating the creative achievements of students, offering industry figures and members of the public the opportunity to view and interact with their projects.

Produced entirely by students, this three day exhibition celebrates the work of Ravensbourne’s undergraduate and further education students. Unlike other degree shows, students are closely involved in every element, from the curation and promotion to the design of the entrance displays and the vibrant live television show which is broadcast throughout the event.

To begin the celebrations, Ravensbourne hosted the Ravensbourne Awards on Wednesday (20 June), a chance to recognise the creative innovations of graduating students. This year sponsors for the different categories included The O2, independent film festival Raindance, and HoloPortal, a company which provides mixed reality holographic experiences. The ceremonies also included presentations and awards from the schools and departments within Ravensbourne.

Following this, industry professionals including the likes of Tim Bevan from Working Title Films and TV presenter and stand-up comedian Andi Osho visited Ravensbourne to meet students, and explore the various departments.

Degree Show Team Producer, Abir Mohammed said: “Working on the Ravensbourne Degree Show has given me a massive push towards my desired career. As an aspiring TV producer/director, my role as producer has allowed me to work with many people across different departments, giving me a better understanding of aspects of the production. I would definitely recommend getting on board to anyone that has the opportunity next year.”

Ravensbourne’s Vice-Chancellor, Linda Drew, said: “The Ravensbourne Degree Show Team have done an extraordinary job with this year’s show, celebrating our new status as Ravensbourne University London in fine style. I would like to say a huge congratulations to them, as well as all our undergraduate and further education students for their hard work and dedication in making Ravensbourne the unique and exciting place it is today.”
