Ravensbourne University London have signed an agreement to develop educational exchanges with LASALLE College of the Arts, a leading contemporary art and design institution based in Singapore.
LASALLE was founded in 1984 by Brother Joseph McNally, a champion of creative art and design in Singapore. The institution offers over thirty diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in subjects ranging from fine art, design, film and fashion to creative writing and Asian art histories.
Professor Steve Dixon, President of LASALLE visited Ravensbourne alongside Marcus Ngiow, Director of Quality and Planning and Professor Michael Earley, Dean, Faculty of Performing Arts on Friday 11 October, signing an agreement with Professor Lawrence Zeegen, Executive Dean of Design at Ravensbourne.
Over the next five years, the two institutions will ‘actively seek to encourage and facilitate joint activities’, conducting collaborative research, holding joint educational events and providing academic exchange programmes for students and staff.
Commenting, Professor Lawrence Zeegen, Executive Dean of Design said, “We are hugely excited to be working with LASALLE College of the Arts — an institution with which we have much in common. I was lucky enough to visit their striking building in central Singapore in May, and have been impressed by their suite of art and design based courses. The first of our collaborations will be ‘Topographies and Typographies’, providing an opportunity for our architecture and graphic design students to visit Singapore and exchange ideas with their international counterparts.”
Professor Dixon added, “LASALLE is delighted to establish a partnership with Ravensbourne. Our institutions share many similarities in terms of our practice-based approach to our curriculum delivery and working closely with the industry to ensure our programmes are relevant to the sector. The partnership with Ravensbourne will enable our students to collaborate and add an international dimension to enrich the student experience. We look forward to many exciting collaborations from our partnership.”
