Ravensbourne will be joined by celebrated fashion innovator, Imran Amed, who will discuss the opportunities available in fashion in the wake of Covid 19. The live online event will see Ravensbourne students submit the questions that matter most to the next generation in fashion.

Imran Amed is one of the fashion industry’s leading writers and thinkers, and is founder and editor-in-chief of The Business of Fashion. Imran has been named in the 100 most influential men list by GQ magazine and was awarded an MBE in 2017.

The Business of Fashion is a ‘global tribe of more than 400,000 top fashion industry professionals all over the world’. The industry website receives more than 1.5 million visitors each month, with more than 5 million followers across social media. Their recent online webinars have included the likes of supermodel Naomi Campbell.

Hosted by Ravensbourne, Imran will be interviewed by international journalist and Fashion Promotion lecturer, Jessica Bumpus. The event will begin with an introduction by our Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr Gary Pritchard, and will see Imran answer questions submitted by our Fashion students. The event will also stream live on the Business of Fashion’s Youtube channel.

Imran established his empire on the eve of the 2008 recession so understands the challenge facing fashion students in a post-Covid 19 landscape. Imran has spoken of how the industry can utilise this uncertain time to it’s advantage, “When you take a moment like this, where we’re forced to innovate and find ways of staying true to our mission, that’s when really magical things happen.”

Fashion Programme Director, Lee Lapthorne commented, “We’re thrilled that Ravensbourne students have the opportunity to question someone as influential and respected as Imran Amed. Our students have asked the burning questions that the entire industry is desperate to hear and have the inquisitive nature that is expected at a digital university. Our teaching equips students to prepare for the future of fashion, so it makes perfect sense that they interrogate a true pioneer within our industry.”
