William Richards

Biography

William is already taking the product design world by storm, creating designs for the likes of Jo Malone, Molten Brown and Dolce Gabbana. Since graduating in 2019 with a first-class Honours degree, he has secured a position as Junior Designer at design agency, Echo House in London.

William was initially attracted to the Product Design course at Ravensbourne because of the brilliant facilities available to students, in particular, the prototyping equipment and 3D printers. The smaller class size also appealed to him as it allowed for plenty of contact time with the tutors as well as regular feedback.

The feedback he received on the course allowed him to develop as a designer. It encouraged him to push himself to learn new skills and new ways of working. He also became proficient in the use of CAD and 3D printing, which led to him purchasing his own printer.

For William, one of the highlights of his time at Ravensbourne was being nominated for Best Collaborative Project in the university’s end of year awards and for winning an internship with Marks and Spencer.

William’s advice to new students is to take feedback on board and apply it to your design, as this will help to ensure that you are continually growing and improving.
