Sara Franco Pierto

Biography

After taking a leap of faith and moving from Spain to study when she was just 18 years old, Sara now spends her time surrounded by designer shoes and handbags working for Jimmy Choo in the central London office.

When she isn’t organising glamorous parties and events on behalf of the brand, Sara is responsible for making sure the new collections look exceptional in-store.

Sara’s fashion career began when she started her foundation course in Fashion and Textiles at Ravensbourne back in 2015. During her foundation course, she had the opportunity to learn more about the different career paths within the fashion industry, and this led her to discover what she was really passionate about.

Armed with this knowledge, Sara decided to apply for the Fashion Promotion course, as the diversity of the modules: from fashion photography, styling, management, art direction and advertising, really appealed to her.

Sara believes one of the main benefits of studying at Ravensbourne was the exposure it gave her to industry from the offset.

As part of her course, she was encouraged to attend talks and workshops from visiting professionals in the industry. This helped give her a deeper insight into how the fashion industry works. She was also given the chance to work with students from different disciplines, and through this work, she learnt the importance of collaboration.

Throughout her course Sara was able to grow as an individual, remarking on this she said: “I have gained the confidence I needed and I learnt to believe in myself and my work…becoming a member of an artistic community like Ravensbourne changed me completely.”

As part of her final major project, Sara was able to start a business plan from scratch. The industry knowledge she gained whilst studying helped her to excel in her first part-time job at Zara, where she quickly became a manager and mentor whilst still a student.

She also had the opportunity to work as an intern for three months in the London showroom of Diane Von Furstenberg and with the social media team for Olga Prieto Jewellery.

Discussing the advice she'd give to other students Sara said: “follow your dreams and work really hard in every single task you get, not just the ones you are passionate about…I think the most important thing is to believe in yourself and your ideas in order to get the best results out of everything that you do.”
