Rebecca Winkler

Biography

With the skills she learnt at Ravensbourne, Rebecca secured her first job just four days after her graduation. She now works as a runner on commercials, working with big brands such as Kapten, Craft Gin Club with Philip Schofield and Audible with Stephen Fry.

She is also an award-winning filmmaker; her debut short film ‘hostages’ won the Best Student Director Award at the 2017 London City Film Awards and was featured on the Amazon Prime show ‘The Short Film Show’.

When it came to finding the right university, Rebecca was keen to find a film course which focused on developing her practical skills. After looking around Ravensbourne and seeing the facilities on offer to students, her mind was made up.

Alongside the focus on practical skills, Rebecca also loved the strong sense of community at Ravensbourne. In her second year, she had the opportunity to work with students from the Music and Sound Design and Editing and Post Production courses to create a music video from scratch. The project was a big success and went on to win the ‘Collaboration Award’ at the Ravensbourne Degree Show.

Rebecca’s advice to other students is: “take every opportunity given to you during your time on the course, and try out every role possible before deciding on the one you wish to pursue – you never know, you might find a job that you had never even considered before.”
