Karen Ingram

Biography

As Director of People and Culture, Karen leads the People and Culture team to implement our people strategy and plans and deliver our HR service. She also has responsibility for driving forward Ravensbourne’s ambitions for equality, diversity and inclusion in our workforce.

Before joining Ravensbourne, Karen was Director of Human Resources for Royal College of Art (RCA), where she led on resolving complex and longstanding employee relations matters as the college transitioned to a new teaching model. Prior to RCA, Karen was Director of Change Management at University of the Arts London (UAL), where she provided direction, guidance and co-ordination to UAL’s strategic change programmes and initiatives. This included developing a new 5-year strategy for Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon colleges or art, and implementing the subsequent change programme.

Karen also worked in central government for several years, and as a senior civil servant holding a range of HR and public policy roles in the Cabinet Office, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and the Department for Work and Pensions. She also has significant experience within the students’ union movement, including as Chief Executive of Edinburgh University union.

Karen is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD), holds a Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors (IoD), has a Diploma in Executive Coaching with the Association of Executive Coaching (AoEC) and is an NVQ assessor and verifier in learning and development.
