Harry Wilson

Biography

Harry’s career was taking off long before he’d even graduated. While on the course, he worked with the likes of Barclays, It’s Nice That and Deloitte. Now he balances his time between multiple design roles, is the co-founder of a tech start-up and has his own freelance projects on the side.

With a background in the creative practices, Harry wanted to find a course which allowed him to build on his existing skillset. Harry was attracted to the Advertising and Brand Design course at Ravensbourne because of its strong links to industry, which he knew would form the foundations for this career.

Alongside the industry links, the course allowed Harry the opportunity to collaborate with students from different disciplines. He was able to work with students from a range of different courses; from Editing and Post Production, Photography, Digital Film Production and Fashion Promotion. These collaborative projects helped him build strong connections with other faculties and increased his knowledge of other areas of industry.

One of Harry's highlights from the course was having the opportunity to help design and organise the Advertising and Brand Design Degree show, alongside his course leader Derek Yates.

Discussing the opportunity Harry remarked: “It was a great feeling to direct such a large project and have industry view the work at the degree show and get such positive feedback”.

Harry's advice to other students is to take every opportunity that is given to you and build connections. He concludes: "take risks and I can guaranty this will set you up with a great foundation for the next stage in your career. Oh, and also find a balance.”
