Emily Bullin

Biography

Armed with the skills and experience gained while on the course, Emily secured her dream job straight after university. She now works as Accessories Buying Administrator at luxury department store, Liberty in London.

Ravensbourne appealed to Emily because of its fantastic location, modern campus, and renowned reputation. She knew she wanted to go into fashion buying, and with only a handful of specific buying courses in the country, she found that Ravensbourne offered the widest variety of modules.

The course provided her with invaluable knowledge of the buying cycle and an overview of the fashion industry, which allowed her to keep her options open.

Highlights of the course

On the course Emily enjoyed a range of guest lectures and benefited from the confidence workshops and mock interviews. Working to live project briefs, the course encouraged her to push herself and work outside of her comfort zone.

One highlight from Emily’s time at Ravensbourne was a trip to Sri Lanka in her second year. This allowed her to learn first-hand what apparel factories are doing to become more sustainable.

Another highlight was collaborating with fashion design students to create a denim brand from start to finish. Commenting on her time at Ravensbourne Emily said, ‘For me, the course was truly a string of highlights, with the ultimate moment being when I found out that I was getting a First, cementing all the hard work and knowledge I had gained over the three years.’

She concludes, ‘it will amaze you what you can achieve when you put your mind to it. A little self-belief goes far! Also, never turn down an opportunity–you never know who you will meet or what you will learn.’
