Alexander Barnes-Ross

Biography

Alexander promotes contemporary interiors brand, MARK. He had already set his sights high while studying at Ravensbourne, securing internships for Elle magazine and the Preen Collection by designer Thornton Bregazzi and working on the awards team at design magazine Dezeen.

When it came to choosing where to study, Alexander chose Ravensbourne because it was one of the few universities in the country that offered the Fashion Promotion course.

The breadth of the modules covered on the course, from press and magazines to fashion film and branding, helped him to determine the direction to take in his own career.

During the course, he benefitted from the chance to work in collaboration with other students as it helped him to understand the creative process as a whole. This knowledge proved to be very beneficial in industry, as he was able to see the value of a campaign and how it feeds into the overarching business strategy.

The experience Alexander gained whilst at Ravensbourne has given him everything he needed to excel in his role as Communications and Events Manager. On any given day he could be attending events and building relationships with clients and press contacts, or at his desk completing design and strategy work for the marketing campaigns.

Alexander’s advice to new students is to do your research and start to think about which campaigns you like and dislike and most importantly, why – as this will help develop a portfolio that stands out from the rest.
