Abhirami Kamalanathan

Abhirami is currently working as a Junior Motion Designer at media agency, RAPP working with big brands such as Toyota, Pepsi, Fiat and Virgin Media.

At Ravensbourne, she had the opportunity to work collaboratively with other creatives from both her course and from different disciplines. 

The tutors on her course helped to prepare her for industry by setting real briefs and organising company visits which gave the students insight into the creative industries. 

Abhirami felt the course gave the freedom to explore her own creative expression and to understand where to focus her skill development. Having the independence to use her own initiative and follow her own path enabled her to curate a showreel and a portfolio which was tailored to the types of jobs she wanted to pursue after graduation. 

Abhirami’s advice to other students is to utilise every opportunity that comes your way and not to worry about not feeling ready for internships. She concludes: “having the chance to do a few internships before you leave will give you a better idea of where in the industry you would like to sit once you leave”.
