Hi there! What is your name and role at Ravensbourne?
Hi, my name is Josie Morton and I am a Student Support Officer within Student Services at Ravensbourne.
It’s time for a coffee break! What’s your go-to drink or snack?
My go-to drink is a flat white, I also love a pain au chocolat as a snack!
How did you get to where you are now?
After I completed my degree in education, I spent some time working in the early years sector before applying to a wonderful scheme called the '10,000 Black Interns Foundation' for an internship in higher education. After my application, I spent two months on an internship with UCAS, researching improvements in fair access for students and assisting prospective students through results day and clearing. I really enjoyed working in higher education and helping students so I am very grateful to be in a role now where I can support students to thrive in university.
What do you do in your role at Ravensbourne?
As a Student Support Officer, I assist students who visit the Student Services information desk on level 3. Whether they have questions or need clarification on university processes, I guide them through the next steps and ensure they receive the support they need.
What do you get up to in your free time?
When I’m not at work, I love exploring new places in London especially after my recent move from Bristol. I’m always open to recommendations for great spots to check out! I also love second-hand shopping, so I enjoy exploring charity shops in different areas to find hidden gems and bargains.
What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
The advice I would give my 18-year-old self would be to take every opportunity that comes your way and be brave!

My current favourite piece of clothing/accessory is…my hoop earrings.
My guilty pleasure is… reality TV Shows.
If I won an all-expenses-paid trip, I’d go to… St Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean to visit my family and eat as much food as possible!
