Concept and creative process
Bill Oddie revealed the top ten wildlife destinations in the world, which were illustrated by another look at some classic programmes from the BBC's Natural History Unit. The titles were conceived as a visual sandwich, with a continuously panning video element as the filling and two friezes top and bottom of frame, containing the names of the places the series would be visiting. The video content of the centre section was squeezed to fit the widescreen format and panned at the same constant rate in a digital edit. The edges of the frames were blended together digitally to create the impression of one single panorama, punctuated occasionally by a full screen layered moving montage of the numerals one to ten. The numeral animation also ultimately provided the background for the actual programme title.
