Top Of The Pops (1998)

Concept and creative process

The biggest stars, the most iconic performances, the most outrageous outfits – it was Britain’s number one pop show, ‘Top of the Pops’! Originally broadcast weekly on BBC1 from 1964 to 2006, ‘TOTP’ became the world’s longest-running music show. ‘TOTP’ in the digital era made full use of the technical possibilities offered by the new technology for animating, layering and compositing, as seen in this Logo design. 1998 also saw a revived remix of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’ for the title music track, which in the early 1970s became synonymous with ‘TOTP'.
