Concept and creative process
Titles for ‘The Basement’, an episode of ‘Theatre 625’, a drama anthology series transmitted on BBC Two from 1964 to 1968. In Harold Pinter's highly acclaimed play, two men fight for possession of a girl and throw everything into the conflict including a bass recorder, a goldfish tank and a basement flat. The titles consisted of prominent billing for Harold Pinter and ‘The Basement’ as black and white studio captions without sound accompaniment.
