Concept and creative process
Title sequence for a documentary series about the marauding Mongol Empire. Live action footage was shot in Outer Mongolia by a Japanese film crew who were filming a feature film there. The cameraman was given a storyboard and list of shots to follow. The footage was then edited mute as music was added at the end. The edited live action was treated in an edit suite to make it look more like an animation, then mist, dust and smoke effects were added in layers.
