Concept and creative process
The title sequence for series 2 of Debbie Horsfield 's comedy was the tale of class divides, the posh but penniless Tundishes, forced to share their dilapidated family pile with the Belchers, a family from decidedly the wrong side of the tracks. The live action treatment of the titles sought to point up the different lifestyles of the two families by alternating contrasting images. Thus a plate of asparagus morphed into a bag of chips, football shields turned into the Tundish family crest and a rock guitar transformed into an antique violin. This highly regarded series was nominated for a BAFTA award for Best Drama Series in 1994.
