The Richard Dimbleby Lecture (1996)

Concept and creative process

The titles for an annual lecture by an influential and distinguished speaker, delivered in honour of the veteran journalist and broadcaster Richard Dimbleby. The indelible mark he left on BBC broadcasting was remembered in the opening sequence in a montage of blue tinted stills of him at work during his long career. These were filmed on a rostrum camera and composited in a digital edit in post-production with filmed shots of the Perspex lectern from which that year’s lecture was about to be delivered.
