Concept and creative process

The brief was to expand the offer of the Radio Times, following the de-regulation of the market in 1990, in order to include listings from ITV and Channel 4. With the strap line 'If it's on, it's in', in this BBC promotion, designed and directed by Margaret Horrocks (now Harvey), Scrooge transforms into Father Christmas with help from a shower of sparkles that emanate from the open Radio Times magazine, bringing everything in the previously dingy room to life.
