Concept and creative process
The Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, known as the BBC Proms, began life in 1895 and have long since established themselves as a permanent fixture in the nation’s cultural calendar of eight weeks of nightly summer concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. To set the scene for this 'Omnibus' programme on the annual music festival, designer Christine Buttner used black and white Proms footage combined with brightly coloured graphic shapes and elements in a lively concert opener. The material was layered and composited in a digital edit on a Quantel Harry.
