Concept and creative process
‘Newsround' was a long running series transmitted four days a week on Children's Programmes which reported what was going on in the world as it happened. The programme not only highlighted dramatic events of the day, but also news of special interest to young people. My solution to the title was a simple animated caption which repeated several times to the 'newsy' urgent music track. The word ‘Newsround‘ with the outline around the letters was hand drawn, as was the line running around the word. The logo was photographed and a Kodalith (a clear on black photographic cinemoid) was made and shot back-lit on a rostrum camera. The logo was revealed by physically uncovering it frame by frame with black card.
