Concept and creative process
Opening titles for a drama series, first broadcast by the BBC in 1964 as part of the 'The Francis Durbridge Presents' strand. The background for the titles was a complex stop motion animation of the unravelling of two long pieces of string from both ends, from the initial muddled pile to become two parallel lines. It was filmed one frame at a time using thick string bound around a flexible core which enabled it to be untangled without disturbing the rest of the pile.
