Concept and creative process
Title sequence for a long-running BBC News 24 Friday afternoon film review show with Mark Kermode
A rare instance of the titles designers coming up with the name of a programme - Film 24, a play on both the channel name (News 24) and the godfather of all film review programmes in the UK: Barry Norman’s Film ’72 (’73, ’74, ’75 etc), which elicited a grin from Mark Kermode when it was first suggested.
The way in which movies were being viewed was changing fast in 2004. DVDs had just overtaken VHS tape as the most popular format for home viewing and there are rumours that Apple were about to launch the first movie download service.
Although not stipulated in any brief, Rob and David felt that the titles had to represent this synergy of traditional, current and future film delivery.
Music was composed by Dru Masters. Produced using Cinema 4D and After Affects.
