Concept and creative process
The title of this comedy series was a gift for the designer and gave him the opportunity to break away from the convention of featuring portraits of the cast in conjunction with the opening credits, and to take a more abstract approach to engaging the audience. The pattern of concentric circles formed in liquid by a droplet, when filmed and run in reverse, resulted in a visually fascinating pattern of ever decreasing circles. Beautifully lit and created in CGI, they symbolised the ever worsening relationship between the main character and his wife. Skilfully choreographed to the music, the result was a striking sequence which interpreted the title of the show to the letter and created a memorable visual metaphor for a human condition.
