The DVD Collection (2003)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for a series in which Stuart Maconie reviews the latest DVD releases. The titles are a colourful exploration of the shape of the DVD in a widescreen animation of multicoloured circles. It starts with the overall animating wide-shot, and timed to the music, cuts progressively closer and explores the animation of individual sections in close-up. Whip pans and changes of viewpoint get from one section to the next, before ending on a mid-shot as the background for ‘The DVD Collection’ title. The animation was designed and choreographed in a digital edit.
