Concept and creative process
Eight years in the making, this series traced the fortunes of a group of would-be doctors throughout their medical studies to finals, graduation and practice as junior doctors at St Mary's Medical School in Paddington. The follow-up sequel ‘Doctors at Large’ was broadcast in 1998. The title sequence for ‘Doctors to Be’ reflected the path for the initial cohort of students to becoming junior doctors, through the observant eyes of some of the participants seen in the colour vignette composited over the monochrome background montage.
