Concept and creative process
This ident was one of many created for the new CBeebies channel which was launched in 2002 with Lambie-Nairn’s 'yellow blob' branding. The channel was targeted at pre-school age children and its launch was timed to coincide with the relaunch of a rebranded CBBC channel, also by the Lambie-Nairn agency, which was aimed at 6-12 year old children. With all these idents, the designers were required to design the scenarios and work closely with the animators to create them and build on the collection of stings available for use throughout the broadcast schedule, which operated from 6am to 7pm weekdays.
