Concept and creative process
Inspired to some extent by Sylvia Plath’s novel ‘The Bell Jar’, the titles aimed to symbolise the claustrophobic emotional situations of the young girls featured, who each felt trapped in circumstances from which they felt they had to escape. Designer Ray Ogden was keen to achieve a particular photographic aesthetic to set the right mood for the sequence.
