Concept and creative process
The concept behind this series of BBC Two idents was the living sculpture or posed studio photograph, in which the subject is primarily still unless a movement occurs or is caused by an external factor. Great care was taken over the positioning and the lighting of the individual set-ups. In the ‘Snack’ ident the BBC Two logo is of course the cue for movement and causes the tomato and apple to rearrange their position on the plate, form a face with the wedge of cheese and turn their gaze on the ‘2’. All achieved by simple hand animation of the fruit and the stalks.
