Concept and creative process
Martin Lambie-Nairn won the pitch to rebrand BBC Two, and his new strategy was implemented in 1991. In the interim period designers sought ways and means to refresh the Two’s image and create new scenarios around the three letters and the brand colours of the existing logo. Margaret Horrocks and Jane Wyatt took on the challenge with their 1990 ‘Christmas Boxes’ scenarios. This resulted in colourful animated fantasy sequences which were created as complete stop-frame model animations with the Two popping out of the boxes at the finale like surprise Christmas presents.
