Concept and creative process
Claire Goble came on board half-way through this project to assist Steven Aspinall with the idents and to gain experience on the shoot. They came up with ideas for a number of stings, all using the BBC ONE brand colours and the circular shape – coffee and flower for example - items that communicated ‘daytime’ and ‘home’. They commissioned a calligrapher to create the ‘Daily’ logo and with each ident it animated on in a way that reflected the subject - swirling in the coffee, for example. They shot all the idents on 35mm film which were edited, animated and composited together in post-production. This version is mute.
