Arena - Relics (1994)

Designer Iain Macdonald recalls the making of the 'Arena Relics' titles. "I wanted to create an eerie atmosphere of the unusual and bizarre to reflect the tone and subjects of the feature length documentaries and films in the series. I was inspired by the gothic animations of the Brothers Quay. Director of Photography Simon Chaudoir used a bellows camera to produce the antique swing and tilt photography of slipped planes of focus. The sequence was filmed in stop-motion animation
