Biography

Rosa Beiroa is an award-winning filmmaker, artist and animator based in London since 2010. With a background in Fine Arts, she's been creating work since 2008, exploring movement and gesture through drawing and animation. Drawing is at the heart of everything she does and is always present in her work.

Sessional Tutor on BA (Hons) Animation

Rosa completed an MA in Animation from the University of the Arts London in 2017. Her first animated film In Our Skin has screened at festivals worldwide and received Best Animation, Best Experimental, Best European Short, Jury and some Audience awards.

Rosa freelances as a character animator at London and European studios, contributing to commercials, TV series, and independent films. Some projects include her role as Key Pose Artist and Senior Animator for Quentin Blake's Box of Treasures, where she brought Quentin Blake's iconic illustrations to life; works for Tate, Red Bull Racing and shorts like the award-winning Hindsight's 2020 for Tomfoolery.

Her technical toolkit includes Toon Boom Harmony, TVPaint, and the Adobe Suite. Rosa specialises in traditional animation and dynamic movement, showing a deep understanding of animation principles, emotional storytelling and compelling characters in her work.

In addition to her animation career, Rosa has been an Associate Lecturer at the London College of Communication MA Animation since 2019, where she delivers sessions on subjects such as Drawing the Body, Animation Fundamentals, Experimental Storytelling, and technical skills.

She recently joined Ravensbourne's BA (Hons) Animation, working on Animation Fundamentals and Character Mechanic modules.

She has also delivered sessions at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) and the University of Seville.
