Caitlin Smyth
Biography
Since graduating in 2019, Caitlin has been working as a Motion Graphics Designer and Illustrator at London-based creative agency, RATCHET. She has also worked as a voice actor for The BBC's Tiny Happy People pages on the website, as well as working on numerous freelance projects.
Caitlin was attracted to the Motion Graphics course at Ravensbourne because of the variety of the modules taught, which allowed students to explore many different skills and techniques.
During her time at Ravensbourne, Caitlin benefitted from the strong links to industry the course provided - she had the opportunity to attend numerous talks from outside speakers and professionals. This helped her to build contacts in the industry, which proved to be extremely valuable when it came to finding a job after graduation.
One of the highlights of Caitlin’s time at Ravensbourne was the chance to take part in the Degree Show at the end of her third-year. It was an inspiring moment for her to see the whole university come together to celebrate the third year student's achievements.
Caitlin’s advice to new students is to not worry about the future or what everyone else is doing. She concludes: “Make the most of the opportunities given to you, make friends, build connections and don’t be afraid to try something new. You might be surprised where you end up – I definitely was and it was the best thing I ever did!”
