Learn with industry

Industry collaboration is in our DNA.

Our graduates outperform those from bigger universities because industry collaboration is part of our DNA. Our students ‘learn with industry’ and they do this from day one of of all our courses.

Our alumni

Ravensbourne has a long heritage of supporting graduate employability and enterprise. Our graduates and alumni occupy positions at the very top of the creative economy.

Professional Life Practice

To build, develop and grow our students professional skills and support employability and enterprise, we are pioneering a range of initiatives designed to drive innovation and support employability.

These are centred around the introduction of a series new undergraduate modules in every year of all our undergraduate courses called ‘Professional Life Practice’ (PLP). These modules prepare students for a period of Work Based Learning during their second year.

Our dedicated Careers Lab provides advice, guidance, events and resources to support PLP. We also have our own commercial studio, Creative Lab who work with partners such as the NHS, Kopparberg, Barclays, Nestlé and Nike to create opportunities that students can get involved in as part of their ‘work-based learning’.

What's on offer?

Careers Lab

The Careers Lab sits at the heart of our strategy for supporting employability and facilitates a range of services for our further education, undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Careers Lab offers advice and guidance, and our advisors facilitate 1-to-1 workshops, lectures and events related to employability and professional practice.

In addition, a dedicated resource bank of video tutorials, links, worksheets, practitioner interviews, guides to potential career routes and whole host of creative opportunities are provided in the Careers Lab space on our VLE (virtual learning environment). Students can also access a dedicated Jobs Board and support from our LinkedIn page.

KICKSTART!

Careers Lab has also created a series of dedicated online courses available to our students and alumni called KICKSTART!

Creative Lab

Creative Lab is a space where industry and education can discover together. This in house creative agency works with a community of alumni, students, practitioners, and industry partners to provide creative services for brands and public institutions.

There are so many opportunities available to you as part of our Professional Life Practice modules. They are part of a strategy designed to allow every undergraduate student to take part in a placement or period of work based learning in their second year.

Over the last five years the agency has offered students opportunities to work with brands which like Apple, Nestlé, Air Jordan, Barclays, Deloitte, Kopparberg and Atlantic Records alongside public institutions such as the Obama Foundation and the NHS.

This forward-thinking initiative is designed to connect with the next generation of creative leaders, challenge convention and deliver impactful solutions through shared intelligence.
