The Story Of Tracy Beaker (2002)

Concept and creative process

Drama about a young girl who is looking for a foster home, based on the bestselling books by Jacqueline Wilson. When her fostering does not go to plan, Tracy hits the Elm Tree House children’s home aka the ‘Dumping Ground’ like a whirlwind, leaving a trail of laughter and chaos in her path. Designer Christine Buttner (Green) designed the storyboards for the sequence and worked out which elements needed to be animated. Animator Andy Walker asked Nick Sharratt (the illustrator who did the books) for some sketches as to how he would draw the elements. Andy then redrew them so that they could be animated. Post-production was at Framestore.
