Concept and creative process
For the endcredits of the dramatisation of Jane Austen’s ‘Pride & Prejudice’ by Fay Weldon the lettering was placed within cartouches decorated with engravings, as seen in early 19th century printed works or decorative pieces on walls. The separate credit captions were filmed on a rostrum camera.

Pride and Prejudice - closing titles design elements
Artwork for the end credits of the 1970s version of the Pride and Prejudice drama series. The artwork consisted of layers which were pegged together as in animation artwork. The base layers consisted of a Pantone coloured paper. The next layer was a hand drawn cartouche (decorative border) with a semi-circle left blank to take different images. These images were hand drawn as well on yet another overlay and slotted into the semi-circle once pegged together. The final layer consisted of the end credit, each printed in colour onto clear cell (cinemoid).
