Concept and creative process
Opening titles for a children's programme featuring music, stories and games. It was a sister programme to the infants' series 'Play School', but aimed at slightly older children, and ran from 1971 to 1984. Brian Cant, one of the regular ‘Play School’ presenters, opened the show by interacting with children and members of the general public (“Give me a P”). The ‘Play Away’ animated skywriting titles by Hilary Hayton and Graham McCallum followed in one of a number of variations.
