Concept and creative process
Titles for the world's longest runnning current affairs television programme, 'Panorama', which was first launched on November 11th 1953 and is still going strong to this day. The titles have changed many times since its launch, but the urgent dramatic music still survives, as has the world globe as a brand identity for the programme. Here it was used to top and tail the sequence and was incorporated in the programme title. The animating lines served as a means of transition between the globe and the live action clips of the programme's presenters and finally to the programme logo. The lines were animated on a rostrum camera, creating the mattes and masters with which the final film optical was made.
