Concept and creative process
Opening titles for the long-running arts documentary strand ‘Omnibus’ which aired from 1967 until 2003. In the 1970s and 80s ‘Omnibus’ was the flagship Arts series on BBC1. This title sequence was created by an animation cycle of rotating rings, filmed on a rostrum camera as backlit artwork using coloured gels of several different colours superimposed one on top of each other, one for each cycle. The animation resolved to a blue ring vignette, framing a panning shot of the ‘Omnibus’ programme logo, that separated again into four coloured rings which panned to the four corners of the screen.
