Concept and creative process
Titles for a daily children's news magazine programme, now known simply as ‘Newsround’, a change prior to John Craven’s 1989 departure from the show he had created. The opening titles were updated in 1987 with computer graphics – animated tumbling and colliding 3D blocks, keyed in over the shot representative of the main story of the day and continuing over into the opening shot of the presenter in the studio. An animated electric flash emanated from the green dot that separated the two words of the title to complete the sequence.
