Lowri (1999)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for the 1999 daily talk show presented by Lowri Turner were designed and created in a multi-layered digital edit by Pat Gavin and Paul Tuersley. Lowri had stood in for Esther Rantzen during her absence the previous year from her twice-weekly chat show ‘Esther’, for which Pat Gavin had created the titles in 1998. For Lowri’s own daily show, Pat Gavin revised his ‘Esther’ titles - a coloured multiscreen grid that animated continuously, changing in size and shape as it revolved through 90 degrees. It now displayed images of Lowri and guests from her other shows, with the show logotype ‘Lowri’ running obliquely over them in big close-up as another layer. The logo finally resolved over a full screen image of Lowri followed by a dissolve through to the live studio.
