Concept and creative process
Opening titles for a series of documentaries which looked at various people, places and events around the United Kingdom. The emphasis for the titles was to show the diversity of the people of the United Kingdom. The UK map was created as a mosaic of still images of people and activities, filmed on a rostrum camera with a number of tracking and panning shots to reveal the detail. From the final wide shot a cut to a close-up took the audience to the specific UK location of the episode, with a final zoom out to locate the spot on a schematic grid map.
