The Frost Interview (1974)

Concept and creative process

Britain's most famous interviewer, David Frost hosted an interview series featuring notable statesmen, businessmen and an array of prominent famous figures from the world's stage.
The titles began after a prologue introduction of the guest. An iris wipe framed the head of the guest in a clear circle on black. The circles multiplied in number, framing a shot of the audience from behind the presenter and guest, before receding to a single dot in the distance. This quickly animated to become a high-contrast portrait of Frost before morphing to the name in the title logo. The animation was filmed on a rostrum camera and was played into the studio each week via the production gallery, keying in the live studio audience.
