Concept and creative process
Titles from a BBC current affairs series where top CEOs talk about business challenges. Designer Rob Shergold says: “I originally complained that the brief was too vague ‘blue sky thinking and maybe something to do with a boardroom table’, but actually its brevity allowed me to condense my ideas down really well. I wanted to animate word clouds in a blue sky, but that didn’t work. The words needed some context, a more solid environment to sit in. So how about reflecting the sky into the surface of a boardroom table? Bingo! Like all the best designs it married elements in a way which was so obvious you had to wonder why no one had thought of it before… Produced in After Effects and Cinema4D. And then back into After Effects again. This was before I understood how to import C4D camera data into After Effects, so the word cloud was actually a 4K mp4 texture animated in After Effects and then added to a plane inside Cinema 4D”
