Jean Cramond’s titles for the first ever televised Budget in 1990. She utilised treated archive footage combined with a paper texture and logo elements which she created and animated on Quantel Hal. For the transmission, electronic captions were provided by the BBC’s Election Graphics team, using pre-designed backgrounds of people and images, over which the budget decisions being announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer were superimposed live as the contents of the Budget were revealed to the packed House of Commons.
