Concept and creative process
Opening titles for ‘Blue Peter’, a children's television series that was first broadcast in 1958 and is currently still going strong, making it the longest-running children's show in the history of television. This title sequence ran from 1992 to 1995 and was the first use of 3D computer generated imagery in a ‘Blue Peter’ show opener. The animators took Tony Hart’s iconic ‘Blue Peter’ stylised ship which had become the programme’s logo in the studio, on books and the famous badges, and turned it into a 3D animation. Built into the sequence in frames were inserts of the programme that were coming up.
