Concept and creative process
‘Tin Toy', a seasonal BBC2 ident was created for Christmas in 1993. The narrative follows the journey of a discarded tin '2' decoration to the top of a tree, aided by a host of willing collaborators. A complex single frame shoot, involving a set, articulated puppets and effects, was filmed in 35mm stop frame animation and lit by a large tent-like golden reflective cyclorama. If you watch the candles you can see the passage of time.
